I got a new digital camera; I sold a lot of my used books on Amazon to pay for it (but I still have tons left, but nobody wants to buy them). My banal neighborhood took on a new interest now that I have this fancy new camera and, as a result as I walked around taking random pictures to test the camera out. The only other people who take such random photos in this area are real estate agents, for whom it's all about money. But for me, it's how to make the ordinary (like my suburban development) interesting—and yet still respect its underlying everyday-ness. That's an artistic challenge.
